Autonomous Munitions
Autonomous munitions are right around the corner.
Follow any war hipster, and you will see someone get hit by a sacrificial explosive drone. That drone was almost certainly operated by a human being, connecting their intention to the machine with a radio signal sent from potentially ten miles away or more. An infantry soldier, without anti drone equipment, has almost no chance against a single drone, much less four at once.
Right now, the dependence upon a radio signal protects many. Electromagnetic signals can be jammed. Which is why I would simply train my drones using machine learning, to see what an infantry man looks like, and where to fly to blow off their leg. The quad copters of today, put to horrifyingly effective use by the Ukrainians, are the sketches of children compared to what is on the horizon.
And electronic countermeasures are much more difficult to implement against a drone that requires no radio communication.
I believe that China can produce millions of such drones, right now.
China is our partner, and we can be friends again. I am certain that the wise and dignified people will allow me to demonstrate their industrial capability, not to paint them as enemies, but in the interest of ultimately pursuing peace and prosperity.
I tried to place my mind into the interests of the Chinese people, in order to determine what lessons could be learned from Russia’s murderous invasion of Ukraine. I thought of how both nations, invader and defender alike, suffered from a dearth of munitions. Both sought supply internationally. “How fortunate for the Chinese people,” I thought, “we have the capacity to supply ourselves well, and if need be, our leaders can quickly organize industrial efforts at will.”
I suggest that the United States take the advice of Robert M. Gates. The esteemed man has warned that the United States lacks the military industrial capacity to fulfill our duty as the arsenal of democracy. I am persuaded.
I go further. I propose that obstruction in our legislature be vilified. That idea, that cynical strategy intended to obtain power, is harmful to our country. If implemented properly, it guarantees the death of progress. And what is your reward for so remarkable a slaying? You get to point at the dead body, and claim there has been no progress. So put you in charge? Are your ideas for the betterment of the American citizen so weak that they cannot even be brought to the field? You simply give up, and go home. Perhaps you will run the daycare tomorrow. America sees you.
Our legislature must accept responsibility for our ability to wage war effectively, in the world as we find it. It is the primary duty of our government to protect the lives and interests of our citizens. A strong military defends us, and encourages faith in the United States all across the world. Our banks in New York benefit from their investor’s confidence that the rule of law will protect their interests, and the American military will protect the rule of law.
Industrial capacity can be increased now, all across the United States. There is manufacturing experience, and an educated work force. Let them bend their backs and minds to virtuous industry. We can mainline our capacity to the Ukrainians, I guarantee it! They will buy every munition we make. And our trade relationship will yield prosperity in both countries, where it takes root!
I am an advocate of the Ukrainians, and so I search always for their benefit. When America decides that she is the arsenal of democracy once again, it will benefit us all.
